LGRD adviser said the interim government has decided to intensify arrest drive on Awami League (AL) leaders and activists in light of their alleged misconduct and disruptive activities.
Speaking to the media, Local Government, Rural Development (LGRD) and Cooperatives adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain on Sunday confirmed the decision after a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Law and Order at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The Home adviser Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury who presided over the meeting was also present during the press meet.
The meeting discussed strategies for improving overall law and order and ensuring the smooth and disciplined execution of upcoming events, he said.
Expressing optimism, the adviser said, “We hope the upcoming events will be conducted in a very peaceful manner.”
“We have noticed some activities in recent days that warrant increased action. As a result, a decision has been made to strengthen arrest operations across the country,” he stated, adding that they are trying to unrest the country.
The adviser accused individuals linked to the previous fascist regime of attempting to incite unrest by supporting dissident groups, funding activities, and organizing demonstrations.
He emphasized that those involved in conspiracies to destabilize the country, particularly individuals with pending cases or clear allegations against them, would face legal action.
