The Election Commission (EC) has called on citizens to rectify any inaccuracies in their National Identity Cards (NIDs) by January 2, ahead of the draft voter list's publication on the same day.
In a statement released on Sunday, the EC Secretariat encouraged individuals to visit their local Upazila or Thana election offices to address discrepancies in their NID records. Accurate information is essential, the EC emphasized, as the draft voter list will be derived from these records. Unresolved errors could result in administrative and legal complications, the statement warned.
To streamline the process, citizens must submit a completed correction form accompanied by the necessary documents. The EC has assured that sufficient measures are in place to ensure the procedure is efficient and user-friendly.
The commission highlighted the broader significance of accurate NID data, noting its importance not only for voter registration but also for verifying personal identity and protecting citizens' rights.
