The five-day 'Jor Ijtema', a preparatory event for the Biswa Ijtema, started on the banks of the Turag River in Tongi on Friday,reports BSS.
With the general sermon delivered by the Pakistani cleric Nayeem Shah, the formalities of the Jor Ijtema began after the Fazr prayer.
The Jor Ijtema, which usually takes place 40 days before the Biswa Ijtema starts, will end on December 3.
Meanwhile, the followers of Tablighi-Jammat and religious scholars from different parts of the country have started to arrive at the Ijtema place.
The followers of Maulana Jobair participated in the first phase of the Jor Ijtema. Then, the followers of Maulana Saad will participate in the second phase from December 20 to 24.
The first phase of the Biswa Ijtema which will be attended by the followers of Maulana Jobair, will begin from January 31 and it will end on February 2.
The second phase of the Biswa Ijtema attended by the followers of Maulana Saad Ahmed will begin from February 7 and it will conclude on February 9 with Akheri Munajat.
