The lifeless body of a five-year-old boy, missing for four days, was recovered from a pond in Sheikhpura village, located in Gomastapur upazila of Chapainawabganj district, on Wednesday morning, reports UNB.
The victim, identified as Nepal Toppo, was the son of Dulal Toppo.
According to local police, Nepal had left his home on November 16 and did not return, prompting his family to file a GD with Gomastapur Police Station the following day.
The boy's body was discovered by locals floating in a pond near his residence early on Wednesday. They immediately alerted authorities, and police later retrieved the body.
The body has been sent to Chapainawabganj District Hospital for an autopsy, confirmed Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khairul Bashar of Gomastapur Police Station.
An unnatural death case has been filed, and police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
