Foreign Secretary Md. Jashim Uddin on Tuesday asked heads of Bangladesh missions in South Asian country to strengthen diplomatic engagement at the bilateral level to foster peace, stability and economic development in this region, reports BSS.
He made the directive at a virtual meeting with the High Commissioners/Ambassadors of Bangladesh to the South Asian countries, said a foreign ministry's press release here.
The discussion was held to take stock of the current state of bilateral cooperation, consular services as well as administrative issues of the Missions, it said.
The foreign secretary emphasized that diplomatic engagement combined with regional cooperation can significantly contribute to promoting peace, stability and economic development in the entire South Asia.
The heads of Missions shared updates on their efforts and initiatives.
The meeting was also attended by foreign ministry's Additional Foreign Secretary and Inspector General of Missions Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam, Director General (Administration) Muhammad Nazmul Hoque and Director General (South Asia) Ishrat Jahan.
