Train services on the Dhaka-Narayanganj route and the Padma Bridge route are currently suspended as two coaches of a passenger train has been derailed.
The incident took place on Thursday morning at around 7:10 am near Gopibagh area of the capital.
Station master Mohammad Anwar Hossain from Kamalapur Railway Station confirmed this matter to the media.
He said, the derailment took place at the Gopibagh rail gate while the Narayanganj-bound commuter train was departing from Dhaka in the morning. Rescue operations have begun, but train services on the Dhaka-Narayanganj and Padma Bridge routes are currently suspended.
However, this could take several hours to resume the rail communication in these two routes, the station master assumed.
