Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has decided to reduce the bus fare in adjustment to the new prices of fuel oil.
The new decision will be effective from Thursday.
A B M Amin Ullah Nuri, Secretary of BRTA announced the decision on Wednesday afternoon after a meeting with the leaders of the transport sector and bus owners at BRTA headquarters in the capital’s Banani.
According to the new decision, the fare of the long route bus has been reduced to Tk 0.05 per kilometer. Now the fare stands at Tk 2.15 per kilometer.
In cities, the bus fare will be Tk 2.45 per kilometer.
However, the minimum fare has been set at Tk 10 for buses and Tk 8 for minibuses.
