In northern Mexico on Saturday, a cargo truck collided with a passenger bus, resulting in at least 19 fatalities and six injuries, authorities stated. Officials revised the death toll from the initially reported 24 after receiving updated information from first responders.
"However, following rescue efforts and expert work carried out at the scene, the confirmed number is, unfortunately, 19 people," said a statement from Rodrigo Reyes, a senior Zacatecas state official, reports BSS.
He said six people were being treated at a hospital.

The bus was traveling between the city of Tepic, in western Nayarit state, and Ciudad Juarez on the US border. The highway was closed to traffic, Reyes said, adding that army, National Guard and civil protection forces were deployed.
