Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested a member of a gang on charge of fraud with popular actress Meher Afroz Shaon.
Fraudster Robiul Islam was arrested from Govindaganj upazila of Gaibandha on Wednesday night.
He allegedly took Tk 31,000 as processing fees from Shaon for development work at Nuhash Polli through foreign funding.
According to Shaon, “Accused claimed himself as Sajib. He wanted to make a museum in the name of late litterateur Humayun Ahmed at Nuhash Polli. He claimed an Australian company will fund it. To get that, some money is needed for the formalities.”
“I gave him about Tk 32,000 through mobile financial service provider bKash. Then he was untraced,” she added.
