The High Court has suspended the appointment process for 3,534 individuals selected by the Public Service Commission (PSC) for the position of 'Junior Instructor (Tech)' across various polytechnic institutes and technical schools and colleges.
This suspension is effective for three months.
On Monday, the High Court bench comprising Justice Md Akram Hossain Chowdhury and Justice KM Rasheduzzaman Raja issued a rule questioning the legality of the recruitment process and ordered the suspension.
The PSC had advertised these non-cadre positions in the 9th and 10th grades under the Technical and Madrasa Education Board on 26 October 2021. The written examination was conducted on 18 March 2023, followed by oral examinations from 25 May to 2 June 2024. Subsequently, on 23 January 2025, a circular was issued appointing 3,534 candidates, with instructions to join by 29 January 2025.
Eighteen petitioners challenged the recruitment, leading to the High Court's intervention. The court has asked the authorities to explain why the recruitment should not be declared illegal and has stayed the appointment process for three months.
Barrister Kaiser Kamal represented the petitioners, assisted by advocates AZM Nurul Amin, Md Maksud Ullah, Md Rokonuzzaman, Abu Sayeed Khan, and Shafiqul Islam.
Notably, reports emerged last year alleging that the question papers for this recruitment examination had been leaked, casting doubts over the integrity of the selection process.
