BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu said BNP is in the hearts of the people because of the movement and struggle it made. And the Awami League has looted. Those who compare BNP with the Awami League (AL) are the devil’s master. There is no devil like them.

“Those who wanted to make BNP a minus ahead of 11th election put the Awami League in power. The people of the country have seen for 16 years what the Awami League has done to the country,” he said.

He said this at a discussion titled 'Five Months of the Uprising: Expectations and concern' organized by the Bangladesh Youth Forum at the Maulana Mohammad Akram Khan Hall of the National Press Club on Sunday.

Shamsuzzaman Dudu said, “Everyone knows what the expectation was in the July Uprising. The expectation was that people would be able to vote, shop comfortably, and move freely. There would be no murders, no disappearances. The market would be controlled. Corruption would stop. Unlimited bank looting, bribery, and corruption would stop. But these are now at a sad stage. Those who fired on the students and the public by the law enforcement agencies are still at large.”

He said, “What have those who are currently in power done after the change in power? This government has not been able to do anything yet. The law and order situation and market control have not been able to reach expected place. If you cannot do anything, why have you come? Many people are making childish statements. Withdraw them.”

Addressing the chief advisor, the BNP vice chairman said, “You are a respected person. Do not do anything that will create suspicion among the people of the country. Your honor will be destroyed. You still have the trust of BNP and other political parties. Do not destroy that trust. Someone or the other is trying to use you to tarnish your image. You have to be careful in this place.”

He said, “We want a fair and impartial election to be held within this year. As the head of the government, Dr. Yunus also said the election would be held within this year or early 26. If there is something in it, then it will be good as we want you (Dr. Yunus) to be seated with a garland of flowers. I would like to bid farewell with a garland of flowers.”
