Young pastry chef and international trainer Md. Sabbir Hossain Hridoy has won a gold medal in the international cake art competition 'World Cake Artistry Award 2026' held in Maldives.
He achieved this success by displaying extraordinary creativity, aesthetics and technical skills in the 'Advanced Floral Piping' category of the competition.
About 800 renowned artists from 38 countries of the world participated in this international competition held at Kurumba Resort in Maldives. By winning gold medals and trophies through this competition at various stages, Md. Sabbir Hossain Hridoy has earned recognition for Bangladesh's skills in the international arena. Mohammad Asil, the representative of the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Industry of the Government of Maldives, presented the award to him at the ceremony.
On this international success, Dr. Nazneen Kausar Chowdhury, the executive chairman (secretary) of the National Skills Development Authority (NSDA) of the Prime Minister's Office, congratulated and congratulated Md. Sabbir Hossain Hridoy in her office. She said that this achievement is a matter of great pride for the country's skill development sector and a shining example of Bangladesh's capability in the international arena.
She also said that this success is not just a personal achievement; it is a shining example of the progress of Bangladesh's skill development system and its ability to compete in line with international standards.
Sabbir’s journey to the international arena began by becoming the champion at the district, divisional and national levels in the bakery trade in the National Skills Competition organized by the National Skills Development Authority (NSDA) in 2021. By becoming the champion in the National Skills Competition organized by the NSDA, he got the opportunity to participate in the World Skills Competition 2022. In the same year, he participated in the WorldSkills Competition-2022 Special Edition held in Lausanne, Switzerland and got eighth place on the world stage, which was a significant achievement for Bangladesh. In recognition of his success, WorldSkills International declared him 'Best of Nation' in 2023.
In addition, Md. Sabbir Hossain Hridoy has trained more than 10,000 students online and offline through his organization 'Hridoy Bake House', which is making a significant contribution to the development of skilled human resources in the baking and pastry sector of the country.
