Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that today there are only two experienced leaders left in the world, and that, according to him, is exactly him together with Russian President Vladimir Putin, reports TASS.
"Right now, there are only two leaders left in the world. It's Putin and me. I am not saying this because I am one of them, but because I have been in power for 22 years, almost as long as Mr. Putin. The others disappeared. We want our dialogue to continue. It is important to continue with politics. For example, politics in Germany ended when Chancellor Angela Merkel stepped down," he said.
The Turkish president expressed his respect for former German chancellor Gerhard Schröder.
"His degree of respect for us was absolutely different and he was a good leader indeed. For instance, during Ramadan, he did not drink beer at our table. He showed respect. Our dialogue with Schroder continues until now and he even visitsTurkey periodically," Erdogan added, according to the Russian agency.
