Bangladesh Investment Promotion Seminar held in Tokyo
Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin speaks at the seminar as the chief guest

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) organised the ‘Bangladesh Investment Promotion Seminar’ on Tuesday at a hotel in Tokyo.

Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin was present at the seminar as the chief guest.

More than 100 Japanese entrepreneurs and businessmen participated in the seminar.

The Trade Adviser in his speech urged the Japanese entrepreneurs and businessmen to come forward to invest in Bangladesh.

He said, Japan is a very trusted friend of Bangladesh and the largest development partner of Bangladesh as a single country.

He thanked the Japanese government for its continued support and cooperation for Bangladesh's development. The Trade Adviser assured all sorts of cooperation to the Japanese businessmen who are interested in investing in Bangladesh.

BIDA Executive Chairman Ashik Chowdhury made a power point presentation on investment prospects in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Md Daud Ali, JETRO Senior Vice President Kazuya Nakajo, JICA Director General for South Asia Teruyuki Ito and JICA Senior Vice President Sachiko Imoto, among others, spoke at the seminar.

Nahian Rahman Rochi, Head of Business Development of BIDA and JETRO Bangladesh Representative Yuji Ando took part in the panel discussion.

This afternoon, Trade Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin held a meeting with State Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry Ogushi Masaki in Tokyo, Japan.

They discussed in detail the bilateral trade, investment, economic partnership agreement and the Public-Private Economic Dialogue (PPED) between Japan and Bangladesh.

The Trade Advisor requested the State Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan to take measures so that more Japanese companies invest in Bangladesh. The Trade Advisor said that currently there is a favorable investment situation in Bangladesh.

Single Window (BSW) has been launched in Bangladesh to provide quick services to investors. He requested Japanese investors to avail of this service.

State Minister Masaki expressed his intention to work together to strengthen bilateral trade.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Md  Daud Ali, Senior Vice President of JICA Sachiko Imoto, Senior Vice President of JETRO Kazuya Nakajo, Economic Minister of Bangladesh Embassy, Deputy Head of Mission, BIDA Head of Business Development, Bangladesh Bank and NBR representatives, and Commercial Counselor were present at the meeting.
