Jewellers have inflated the price of gold by Tk1,166 to Tk1,38,393 per bhori (11.664 grams) due to a hike in the price of pure gold in the local market.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting held on Monday.
New tariffs would come into effect on Tuesday.
According to a BAJUS press release, the price of 22-carat gold will now be Tk11,865 per gram, and 21-carat Tk11,325 per gram.
On the other hand, the price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk9,708 a gram while that of traditional gold at Tk7,968 per gram.
The price of 22-carat silver is Tk221 per gram, 21-carat Tk210, 18-carat Tk181, and traditional one is Tk136 per gram.
