The remittance flow has increased in the country by 4.23 per cent more in December last than in the same period of the previous year.
According to the Bangladesh Bank, the country has earned $1.7 billion in remittances in the just concluded December which was $1.63 billion in 2021.
Bangladesh received a $10.49 billion remittance from July to December of the last year which was $10.24 billion in the same period of the previous year.
The illegal transaction of remittance increased through Hundi after fixing the remittance exchange rate by Bangladesh Foreign Exchange Dealers Association last year. If the government does not stop over-invoicing and under-invoicing money transfers, the popularity of the Hundi will not be decreased.
Economists think it is not possible to increase the remittance flow in the country keeping the popularity of the Hundi.
That is why they called upon the government and the central bank to become more strict to increase the remittance flow.
