Foreign remittance is increasing daily in the country in line with the last two months amid the ongoing global economic crisis of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
According to the Bangladesh Bank, the country has received $941 million or Tk 10,068 crore in remittances in the first 16 days of December.
Bangladesh received $159 crore 47 lakh remittances in November last which means the remittance amount in December is more than the last month.
The government has taken various initiatives to increase the remittance flow through the legal channel including the free charge of the banks and exchange houses, and 2.5 per cent cash incentives.
Besides, the government has introduced the CIP award to the highest remittance senders, launched house loan facilities for expatriates, installed a drawing system between Bangladesh Bank and international money transfer operators under Fintech System and stopped questioning the money source.
