Jewellers have lowered the price of gold further by Tk2,624 to Tk1,48,343 per bhori (11.664 grams) amid a tariff drop on pure gold.
With this decision, the price of gold has reduced for the third time in a week.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting on Saturday.
The price of 22-carat gold is now Tk12,718 per gram, while 21-carat gold is Tk12,140 per gram, according to a press release signed by Masudur Rahman, committee chairman.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk10,406 a gram, while that of traditional gold at Tk8,564 a gram.
New tariffs will come into effect from Sunday, the release added.
Prices of silver, however, remained unchanged.
The price of 22-carat silver is Tk221 per gram, 21-carat Tk210, 18-carat Tk181, and traditional silver Tk136 a gram.
