Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said the country’s annual revenue increased by $465 billion in the last 14 years during the Awami League tenure.
He made the remarks while addressing a seminar and distributing awards on the occasion of VAT Day and VAT week in the capital on Saturday.
Internal Resources Division Senior Secretary and National Board of Revenue Chairman Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem chaired the seminar while FBCCI President Mohammad Jashim Uddin, among others, spoke.
The finance minister said the World Bank has mentioned the development and progress of Bangladesh as ‘remarkable’.
He said all have to give taxes to take the country forward and businessmen will have to assist with this.
Earlier, awards were given to the highest taxpayer various organisations and individuals.
