Planning Minister M A Mannan said the government will implement priority projects to remove poverty alleviation although the government is implementing projects as part of the cost-containment policies.
He made the remarks while speaking at a roundtable titled ‘Solution of Basic Rights of Ultra-poor in City: MPs can differentiate’ in the capital on Wednesday.
Lawmaker Gloria Jharna presided over the roundtable while lawmaker Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shawon, Ahmed Firoz Kabir, Ferdousi Islam, Rumana Ali and Aparajita Haque, among others, spoke.
Director General of the Department of Social Services Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal and representatives of various development and donor organisations also attended the discussion.
The planning minister said clear directions have been made in Vision 2021 to accelerate the social safety net to remove poverty alleviation.
