Bangladesh Bank (BB) on Thursday announced new transaction hours and office timing for bankers with effect from November 15 next to save electricity using daylight.
Banking transaction hours have been set from 10 am to 3:30 pm while the banks’ office hours from 10 am to 5 pm from Sunday to Thursday, said a new circular of the department of Off-site Supervision of the Bangladesh Bank.
Bankers' existing office timing is from 9 am to 4 pm.
Earlier on Monday, the government rearranged the office timing from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm for all the government and autonomous offices which will come into effect from November 15 next.
The decision came from a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam revealed the new office timing while briefing reporters after the meeting.
On August 22, the government rearranged the office timing from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm for all the government and autonomous offices and from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm for all banks to save electricity amid short supply in the country.
