Will criticize, but won’t let interim government fail: Rizvi

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that they will criticize the interim government but will not let it fail.

He on Saturday made the statement while addressing a book unveiling program at the National Press Club. Poet Hasan Hafiz, also the president of press club presided over the program.

He said: “We criticize many things about the pro-revolution forces. We also criticize and will continue to criticize various actions of the interim government. Even so, we will not let the Yunus government fail.”

CA’s press secretary Shafiqul Alam, Bangladesh Sammilita Peshajibi Parishad– BSPP secretary general Kader Gani Chowdhury, Amar Desh’s executive editor Syed Abdal Ahmed, Sargam’s editor Kazi Rawnak Hossain were speaking at the event as special guests.

“India is directly interfering in the sovereignty of Bangladesh,” Rizvi said, adding: “They provided shelter to Sheikh Hasina, which was right up until now, but now they are giving her freedom to incite the destruction of Bangladesh’s stability.”

“India is again taking a stand in favor of the reaction that is happening in Bangladesh to Sheikh Hasina’s statement.” He leveled India’s action as a gross violation of international law.

Shafiqul Alam said: “The Awami League used to impose their fabricated history on the people.”

“They are still committing such misdeeds. They are presenting a world-renowned leader like Dr Yunus as a militant to the world. They are presenting themselves as the oppressed,” he continued.

The press secretary said that Sheikh Hasina and her forces have taken $234 billion out of the country. They have disappeared 3,500 people; they have killed 2,000 people in July-August, some of whom were only four to eight years old.

“The Shapla massacre took place during her time. After the verdict of Delwar Hossain Sayeedi, terrible killings were carried out.”

“The country's chief justice was forced to leave the country by the security agency,” he said, adding: “At that time, it was said that the country's judicial system was independent!”

Kader Gani Chowdhury said: “We are now able to breathe in free and independent air after sanguinary sacrifice of country's students and people in July-August. This unity must be upheld at any cost.”

Syed Abdal Ahmed said: “We need to quickly establish a political government through elections. The law and order enforcers are not playing their proper role. They still think that the dictatorial system will return through some chaos.”
