BNP's Senior Joint Secretary Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that the interim government is attempting to gain support by using fear tactics related to a one-eleven-like situation. He firmly stated that this approach won't work.
He pointed out that the public wants a fair election based on the opinions of all, something that Sheikh Hasina has not allowed.
He made these remarks on Saturday during a Milad and Dua Mahfil organized by Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP on the occasion of Arafat Rahman Koko's death anniversary.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, “BNP has survived through struggles and resistance. As a result, a group has been spreading propaganda to tarnish the party's image.”
The Senior Joint Secretary of BNP added, “The party has always been in favor of free and fair elections. BNP has always been vocal about restoring the people's right to vote and will continue to do so in the future.”
He further added, “The interim government is the result of a student and people's movement and sacrifices. They will fulfill the aspirations of the people. However, they are not focusing on the necessary reforms. Factories are closing down, the economy is declining, and the government is tangled in complexities instead of focusing on public welfare.”
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, “BNP believes that in order to preserve democracy, the government must arrange for fair elections. If necessary, they will engage in discussions with political parties and take actions, even by enacting laws. There is no way to deny the contributions of political parties and the student and people's movements. What is said and done in the name of civil society cannot be accepted without scrutiny.”
