BNP senior joint secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has alleged that attempts are being made to form a King's Party from among the advisors of the interim government.
He said, "Attempts are being made to form a political party from within the government. Then, people can surely question its impartiality."
He said this after visiting the grave of late Arafat Rahman Koko at Banani Cemetery on Friday morning on the occasion of his 10th death anniversary.
The senior BNP leader said, "This government is also giving priority to a particular political party in various administrative appointments. These need to be rectified. Otherwise, people's perception of the interim government will change, as currently, people think that it is a neutral government."
Rizvi said, "This government will hold free and fair elections. Before that, a few reforms will be needed, but no one is saying anything. But if reforms will continue forever, that cannot happen. The foundation for the victory of our movement on August 5 was laid by BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman.”
On the 1/11 issue, this BNP leader said, “Why are you showing fear that 1/11 will be repeated? Do advisors want to teach politics to wise people?”
Referring to the interim government as the fruit of the democratic movement, Rizvi said, “The people expected this government to work for them. But if the people cannot vote and you talk about reform and reform, then it will all be in vain. Reform first, then elections— this is like a reflection of Sheikh Hasina’s policy as Hasina used to say development first, then democracy.”
