A mild earthquake was felt across several parts of the country, including Dhaka, around 1:26 PM on Friday. Tremors were also reported in Sylhet and other regions. Initial reports of damage were not immediately available.
According to Volcano Discovery, a platform that monitors seismic activity, the earthquake originated in Myanmar at a depth of 112 km. It registered a magnitude of 5.1.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) pinpointed the epicenter 106 km east of Wangjing, a town in Manipur, India. The tremors were felt in Myanmar, several Indian states, and Bangladesh.
