The trend of rising temperatures is expected to continue until Friday. During this period, fog density may also be slightly higher.
However, from Saturday onward, temperatures and fog may decrease. The intensity of winter could increase slightly across the country, according to the weather office.
This January, both day and night temperatures have been higher than usual. According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature on Wednesday in some regions was 1 to 3 degrees Celsius above normal, while the maximum temperature was 1 to 5 degrees Celsius higher than usual.
Despite the higher temperatures, the mild northerly winds and fog have reduced sunlight, which has increased the feeling of cold in some areas.
Regarding this, Meteorological Department Assistant Meteorologist Kazi Zebunnesa on Wednesday said, “Fog intensity increased today (Wednesday). Due to reduced sunlight caused by the fog, the feeling of cold in some regions has slightly increased. There is a tendency for temperatures to rise until Friday, so there is little change in the feeling of cold during this period.”
She further stated, "From Saturday onward, temperatures may decrease again, which could last until Monday. As a result, the cold may increase. However, the likelihood of intense cold is low.
She remarked that during this period, temperatures may drop to 10 degrees Celsius or below in some areas of the northern and western regions of the country, particularly in places like Tetulia in Panchagarh or Chuadanga.
