The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of a significant drop in temperatures across the country, forecasting bitterly cold conditions over the next three days, along with the possibility of dense fog.
This update was provided in a weather report signed by meteorologist Dr Md Bazlur Rashid on Saturday (Jan 18).
The Meteorological Office said that the weather across the country is expected to remain dry with temporarily partly cloudy skies over the next 24 hours.
However, moderate to dense fog is likely to develop in some areas of the northern region from midnight to morning, with light to moderate fog expected in other parts of the country.
Additionally, night temperatures are forecasted to drop by 1-2 degrees Celsius in the Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions, with slight decreases expected in other regions. Daytime temperatures are also predicted to decline slightly across the country.
From 6 pm on Sunday (Jan 19), the weather is expected to remain dry with partly cloudy skies for the next 24 hours. Moderate to dense fog may develop in some areas nationwide from midnight to morning, and night temperatures may drop by 1-2 degrees Celsius. Day temperatures may also experience a slight decrease.
Looking ahead to Monday (Jan 20), the weather is likely to remain dry with partly cloudy skies for the next 24 hours, starting from 6 pm. Moderate to dense fog may occur in some areas nationwide from midnight to morning, with night and day temperatures expected to remain almost unchanged.
Furthermore, the agency forecasted that both night and day temperatures may rise over the next five days.
