Members of law enforcement agency recovered gold within 24 hours of being stolen at Siddhirganj in Narayanganj.
One person has been arrested in connection with entering a jewellery shop in the guise of customer and stealing gold therefrom.
Narayanganj unit leaders of Bangladesh Jeweller's Association (BAJUS) thanked the police for prompt action.
The incident took place at Purnima Jewellers of Haji Ahsan Ullah Super Market on Chattogram Road in Siddhirganj around 3 pm last Sunday.
A group of thieves in the guise of customer entered the store and managed to escape the scene after stealing the gold ornaments in a tricky way.
Immediately after the incident, the employees of the shop came to know the matter and rushed to nab the thieves. They managed to hold one named Mahbub Alam Khokon (43) but other members of the gang ran away.
On information, a team of police led by Sub-inspector (SI) Shaukat Jamil of Siddhirganj police station reached the spot and arrested the thief.
Later, police raided the residential hotel Mordan in Saidabad area of Dhaka at the night and recovered the stolen 5.5 bhori of gold.
