The Election Commission (EC) has taken a decision to use Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in a maximum of 150 constituencies in the upcoming 12th parliamentary elections.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the commission held at EC bhaban in the capital on Tuesday.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal presided over the meeting while four other commissioners were also present.
The EC has conveyed this decision based on their discussions on EVMs with the 28 registered political parties of the country.
Earlier on Monday, the commission sent a summary of EVMs to registered political parties, Law Ministry, Home Ministry, Finance Ministry, Public Administration Ministry, Defense Ministry, high officials of the Prime Minister’s Office and related concerned.
