Four female tea workers died in a landslide triggered by incessant rains in Sreemangal upazila of Moulvaibazar on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Hiramoni Bhumij, 30, Purnima Bhumij, 28, Radha Mahali, 40, and Shakuntala Bhumij, 40.
The tragic incident took place at Lakhaichara Tea Estate at Kalighat union under the upazila while the tea workers were collecting soil from a foothill in the morning.
Injured tea workers were rescued by the fellows and sent to Sreemangal Upazila Health Complex where on duty doctors declared them dead on arrival.
Sreemangal Police Station Officer-in-Charge Humayun Kabir confirmed the matter to the media.
