The government has increased the fare of launch following transport fare by 30 per cent which will come into effect from Tuesday.
The minimum passenger fare has been fixed at Tk 33 as it was Tk 25 earlier.
The launch fare has gone up to Tk 3, for each passenger, from Tk 2.30 per kilometer for travelling the first 100 kilometers (km), said a notification issued by the Ministry of Shipping, reports BSS.
According to the notification, while travelling more than 100km, the fare has been fixed at Tk 2.60, up from Tk 2.
Following the recent fuel price hike, the launch owners had demanded doubling the passenger fare aiming to adjust their fuel cost.
They proposed to double the fare from Tk 2.30 per kilometer (km) to Tk 4.60 for the first 100-km journey and from Tk 2 to Tk 4 per km for travelling the next 100-km.
