A case has been filed against 8 students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) in connection with the death of former university unit Chhatra League leader Shamim Molla.
Sudipta Shaheen, Deputy Registrar (Security-1) of the university, filed the case with Ashulia Police Station early Friday, also naming 20-25 unidentified individuals as suspects.
The accused are: Md Rajon Mia (46th batch, Department of Government and Politics), Raju Ahmed (45th batch, same department), Mahmudul Hasan Raihan (50th batch, Department of English), Jubayer Ahmed (44th batch, Department of History), Hamidullah Salman (49th batch, Department of English), Atikuzzaman Atik (49th batch, Department of Management Studies), Sohag Mia (47th batch, Department of Computer Science and Engineering) and Ahsan Labib (49th batch, Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering).
Earlier, the JU authorities suspended these eight students following preliminary evidence linking them to the murder.
