Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said Awami League leaders suffered a lot when we were in the opposition party but we did not come to take any revenge after coming to power.
The Prime Minister made the remark while participating in a rally organized at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital on Sunday morning to commemorate the 21 August grenade attack.
She said, “You will see Khaleda Zia's speeches. She said in her speeches that Awami League will not be able to come to power even in 100 years, can't even be in the opposition party. That means they planned to kill me.”
"Those of us who survived the horrors of the grenade attack were born again. We have a responsibility to the people. As long as there I breath, I will do my duty for the welfare of the people,” Sheikha Hasina Added.
Earlier, Prime Minister and Awami League President paid tribute to the victims of the grenade attack on August 21, 2004. On Sunday morning, she laid a wreath at the temporary memorial erected in front of the Awami League central office on Bangabandhu Avenue in memory of the victims of August 21.
