In a significant development for basketball in Bangladesh, senior officials of the Bangladesh Basketball Federation visited the state-of-the-art wooden basketball court at Bashundhara Sports City, expressing optimism about its potential to elevate the sport in the country.
The delegation included the Federation’s General Secretary Major Mohammad Atikul Hafiz (retd) and Bangladesh National Basketball Team Head Coach McCammon William Fraser.
The officials were welcomed by Major Mohammad Mohsinul Karim, senior executive director of Bashundhara Sports City.
During the visit, the federation officials highly praised the court's international-standard facilities, particularly its premium wooden flooring, which they described as suitable for high-level competition and professional training.
The visitors also expressed strong interest in organising various national and international basketball tournaments at the venue in the future. In addition, they highlighted the possibility of using the modern facility regularly for national team training sessions to help improve players' skills and performance.
Speaking during the inspection, the officials noted that access to such world-class infrastructure would play a vital role in the development of basketball in Bangladesh and provide athletes with an environment that meets international standards.
Officials at Bashundhara Sports City said they are hopeful that the facility will contribute significantly to the growth and advancement of basketball across the country, creating new opportunities for players and competitions at both national and international levels.
