Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto said on Wednesday that Bangladesh’s four straight Test wins against Pakistan is the biggest achievement so far in the country’s cricket history.
After defeating Pakistan by 104 runs in Mirpur, Bangladesh repeated the feat with a 78-run victory in the second and final Test on the fifth day at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
The win marked another major milestone for Bangladesh, who secured four successive Test series victories for the first time in their history.
"So far, this is our biggest achievement," Shanto said after the historic win.
The Bangladesh skipper also believes the team can achieve even greater success in the future.
"But I believe Bangladesh will play many more Test matches in the future and hopefully achieve even greater things," he stated.
"Overall, I would say these four matches were very special and we played very good cricket. But as I always say, we still need to gradually build this Test team," he added.
Shanto also stressed that Bangladesh still have several areas to improve in order to become a consistently strong side in the longer format.
"There are many areas where we need to improve, and we have to address those properly. When we can perform consistently well both at home and away, then I will say this team has truly become better than before," he concluded.
