FC Barcelona secured their 29th La Liga title after defeating arch-rivals Real Madrid CF 2-0 in El Clasico on Sunday, reports Le Monde.
Goals from Marcus Rashford and Ferran Torres in the first half helped coach Hansi Flick guide Barcelona to back-to-back league titles, while Madrid ended the season without a trophy.
The victory moved Barcelona 14 points clear of second-placed Real Madrid with three matches remaining, making their lead unassailable.
It was only the second time in La Liga history that the title race was decided directly through an El Clasico result. The previous instance came in 1932 when Real Madrid won the league after drawing with Barcelona.
Despite being knocked out of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals by Atlético Madrid in April, Barcelona bounced back strongly to seal the domestic title in front of their home supporters.
“This title is even more special because we won it at home against Madrid. Now we have to enjoy it with the fans,” Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong told Movistar.
“We have been the best team in Spain. Of course, we also want to win the Champions League, and that remains our objective,” he added.
Barcelona took control early in the match at Camp Nou.
Rashford opened the scoring with a superb free-kick from around 20 yards out before Torres doubled the lead after a clever assist from Dani Olmo.
Real Madrid struggled to respond despite efforts from Jude Bellingham and Vinícius Júnior.
A goal from Bellingham was ruled out for offside, while Barcelona goalkeeper Joan García made several key saves to preserve the clean sheet.
Madrid were also without injured star Kylian Mbappé, while midfielder Federico Valverde missed the match after reportedly suffering a head injury during training.
Barcelona remain on course to finish the season with 100 points if they win their remaining matches.
