Nigar Sultana Joty will captain Bangladesh at the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England and Wales after the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced a 15-member squad on Sunday.
Vice-captain Nahida Akter has been named Joty’s deputy in the squad, which is scheduled to depart for Edinburgh on May 25.
Ahead of the tournament, the Tigresses will take part in a tri-series featuring Scotland and the Netherlands before playing warm-up matches in Loughborough as part of their preparations for English conditions.
Bangladesh will open their World Cup campaign against the Netherlands at Edgbaston on June 14.
The group stage also includes high-profile fixtures against defending champions Australia at Headingley and arch-rivals India at Old Trafford. Bangladesh will conclude their group campaign against South Africa at Lord’s on June 28.
Youngsters Shorna Akter and Marufa Akter have been included to add attacking depth and pace to the side, while experienced campaigners Fahima Khatun and Ritu Moni strengthen the all-round options.
