Bangladesh seized control of the first Test at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Sunday morning, claiming four wickets in a dominant opening session to leave Pakistan reeling at lunch, trailing by 162 runs.
In this session Bangladesh created six clear chances and took four wickets by the courtesy of Taskin Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
Azan Awais, resuming on his overnight 85, completed his maiden Test century, but was dismissed shortly after for 103 by Taskin, who opened the floodgate for Bangladesh.
His departure triggered a collapse that Bangladesh were only too happy to accelerate.
Shan Masood and Saud Shakeel both fell to poor shot selection, handing Bangladesh momentum just as Pakistan needed the two senior batters to consolidate.
Abdullah Fazal, who had shown admirable patience, was the last to go, caught at mid-on off Miraz for 60 off 120 balls, after failing to clear the fielder while attempting to loft the off-spinner.
Taskin and Miraz both took two wickets each in this dominating session for the Tigers.
Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha are the last recognised batting pair in their order.
