Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is banking on advanced technology to sharpen its preparations, with cricket operations in-charge Shahriar Nafees highlighting a versatile spin bowling machine as a key training tool ahead of the New Zealand series, reports Daily Sun.
The machine allows batters to face multiple variations, replicating real match scenarios with precision.
“With this, you can practise off-spin, leg-spin, and straight deliveries,” Nafees said. “If you think about off-spin for a right-handed bowler, then for a left-handed bowler it would be a chinaman. If you think about leg-spin, then for a left-handed bowler it would be off-spin.”
He stressed that the device covers all spin variations, including the arm ball, while enabling control over length and pace. “Some spinners bowl quicker while others bowl slower, so that variation can be managed as well.”
Nafees added that the machine offers both manual and automated operation. “It can be set on an automated timer, allowing approximately 25 to 30 balls to be used continuously,” he said.
The innovation is expected to give Bangladesh’s batters a crucial edge against quality spin in international cricket.
