Bangladesh lost 4-3 to Hong Kong in a thrilling match in the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers held at Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka on Thursday evening.
Despite taking the lead through Hamza Chowdhury's goal, the Bangladesh football team lost in this 7-goal match which was not less than a top notch thriller. The Bangladeshi players fought valiantly till the end, but didn’t seal the win as luck this time was not on their side.
Bangladesh took the lead in the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers with a goal by the country's football poster boy Hamza Chowdhury. Then they fell behind by 3-1. From there, Bangladesh came back and scored goals by Samit Som and Morsalin to make the score 3-3.
But, Bangladesh’s shy of relief didn’t last long as Hong Kong's Rafael Marquis scored a goal just before the referee blew the final whistle. That's how Bangladesh lost 4-3.
With that, Hamza Chowdhury-Jamal Bhuiyan's chances of reaching the final stage of the AFC Asian Cup also ended. Hong Kong boosted its chances of playing in the Asian Cup to be held in Saudi Arabia by defeating Bangladesh.
