Bangladesh were bowled out for 221 runs in 48.5 overs in the opening match of the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.
Debutant Saif Hassan contributed 26 runs off 37 balls, while Towhid Hridoy steadied the innings with 56 off 85 deliveries. Skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz also played a crucial knock, scoring 60 runs from 87 balls.
For Afghanistan, Azmatullah Omarzai and Rashid Khan impressed with the ball, taking three wickets each, while AM Ghazanfar chipped in with two wickets.
Earlier, Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz won the toss and elected to bat first.
