Najmul Hossain Shanto suffered a quadriceps injury while attempting a diving stop at the boundary during the second one-day international against Sri Lanka on Saturday at the R. Premadasa Stadium.
Shanto, who had a similar quad injury earlier this year, was seen in discomfort and did not take part in the remainder of the fielding innings.
“He is under rest and icing, and will be under observation for the next 24 hours,” a BCB official said.
The medical team will assess Shanto again on Sunday, with an update on his availability expected before the third ODI in Kandy.
