Bangladesh left-arm spinner Taijul Islam claimed a five-wicket haul in his side's second and final cricket Test against Sri Lanka at Sinhalese Sports Club ground in Colombo on Friday, reports BSS.
He registered 5-131 on Day 3 of the Test but the batters undermined his effort, leaving Bangladesh staring at heavy defeat. This five-wicket haul was his 17th in his career.
If the stat is taken into consideration since 2018, Taijul and Bumrah claimed 14 five-wicket hauls each. As far as the five-wicket haul is concerned, these two bowlers remain most successful in world cricket at this moment.
Australia's fast bowler Pat Cummins who is also the captain of the side took second highest 13 five-wicket haul in his period.
Australia's Nathan Lyon and India's Ravichandran Ashwin are in the top five with 12 five-wicket haul each.
