Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto expressed his excitement about the growing rivalry between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka ahead of their month-long tour of the island nation.
Speaking to the media on Thursday at a press conference in the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Shanto addressed various questions surrounding the tour, including the competitive edge that has developed between the two sides in recent years.
When asked about the ongoing on-field rivalry between the two subcontinental teams, the Bangladesh skipper welcomed the idea and responded with optimism.
"Let it happen — it would be good if it does," Shanto said with a smile, indicating his openness to a healthy but intense competition.
Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have produced several close contests in recent years, both in ICC events and bilateral series.
The upcoming tour is expected to further fuel the cricketing tension between the two nations, making it one of the more anticipated matchups in the calendar.
