Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against former Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan Papon and his wife, along with three others, on charges of acquiring assets not related to known income.
On Monday, ACC Director General Md. Akhter Hossain confirmed the matter to the media.
He said, “The commission has filed a case against Nazmul Hasan Papon under Section 27(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act-2004 for the crime of acquiring assets not related to known income of Tk 20 crore 7 lakh 41 thousand 12 and under Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947, and under Section 4(2) and (3) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2012 for the crime of suspicious transactions of Tk 742 crore 73 lakh 84 thousand 686 acquired through bribery and corruption through 20 bank accounts.
He further said that a separate case has been filed against Roxana Hasan under Section 27(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act-2004 for the crime of acquiring undeclared assets worth Tk 121,123, and under Section 4(2) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2012 and Section 109 of the Penal Code for the crime of suspicious transactions of Tk 493,255,110 acquired through bribery and corruption through 11 bank accounts.
