Play has been suspended due to rain at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Cricket Stadium, shortly after Bangladesh crossed the 300-run mark in their first innings of the Chattogram Test.
At the time of interruption, Bangladesh were 303 for 7 in 89.4 overs, securing a healthy lead over Zimbabwe’s first innings total of 227. Mehidy Hasan Miraz was unbeaten on 21, with Taijul Islam on 11 at the other end.
What began as a bright and sunny morning took a sudden turn around 9:00 AM, as dark clouds gathered over the port city. Rain followed soon after, forcing the players off the field.
Earlier in the morning, Miraz survived a scare in just the second over of the day. Looking to drive a delivery from Victor Masekesa, he edged the ball to wicketkeeper Tafadzwa Tsiga, who couldn’t complete the catch as the ball struck his elbow instead of settling in his gloves. Miraz was batting on 17 at the time.
