Bangladesh finally found runs from their openers as Shadman Islam and Anamul Haque flourished on Day Two of the Chattogram Test at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Cricket Stadium (BSSFLMRCS).
The duo added an unbeaten 106-run stand by lunch, marking Bangladesh’s first century opening partnership in 33 innings.
Shadman was the dominant partner, reaching 66 off 91 balls, while Anamul provided steady support with 38 off 65 deliveries. Bangladesh now trails Zimbabwe by 94 runs.
Earlier in the morning, Taijul Islam, who claimed five wickets on the opening day, struck with the very first ball of Day Two to dismiss Blessing Muzarabani, wrapping up Zimbabwe’s first innings at 227.
Taijul finished with impressive figures of 6 for 60.
In reply, Shadman and Anamul looked assured, negotiating Zimbabwe’s pace attack comfortably and attacking the spinners.
Zimbabwe have already used six bowlers in the 26 overs bowled before lunch.
