Bangladesh women’s team head coach Sarwar Imran expressed confidence in his team’s preparation as Nigar Sultana Joty and her squad departed for Pakistan yesterday (April 3) afternoon to compete in the ICC Women's ODI World Cup Qualifier.
Speaking to reporters at Dhaka Airport before their departure, Imran emphasized the team’s rigorous training and tactical adjustments ahead of the crucial tournament.
“We are well aware of the challenges and have specifically worked on these aspects in practice. We have trained on how to bowl on batting-friendly wickets and how to bat on bowling-friendly wickets. We have also focused on adjusting our strike rate accordingly,” he said.
“This will be a 250-plus run wicket, and I hope our batters will be able to achieve that,” he added.
Bangladesh will play five matches in the qualifying event, facing teams such as Pakistan, West Indies, Thailand, Scotland, and Ireland in their bid for World Cup qualification.
“In Pakistan, we want to win all five matches, one at a time. We have two strong teams to face—West Indies and Pakistan. However, we are not underestimating the other teams either. Our goal is to win against them all and secure qualification,” Imran added.
The tournament serves as the final pathway to the ICC Women's ODI World Cup, with Bangladesh aiming to secure a spot in the prestigious event, scheduled to take place later this year in India.
