Career planning discussion held at JU

A discussion meeting titled “Future Action Plan and Career Guidelines” was held at Jahangirnagar University (JU) with the aim of helping students build their careers and enhance their professional skills.

The event was organised on Thursday (7 May) by Bashundhara Shuvosangho at the university’s Mathematics Department premises.

More than a hundred students from different departments of the university participated in the discussion session. During the programme, members of the organisation discussed various topics including competition in the current job market, preparation for the BCS examinations, books necessary for career development, and strategies for presenting oneself effectively in the corporate sector.

The participants also shared their future plans, preparation experiences, and career-building strategies with one another. Speakers emphasised the importance of exchanging ideas and experiences to gain proper guidance for career development.

Speaking at the event, Publicity Secretary Rifat Bin Nur said, “It is difficult to succeed today with only academic knowledge. Language proficiency, technological skills, and leadership qualities are equally important. In this highly competitive environment, students need to develop skills beyond bookish knowledge. We must define our goals from now on and move forward while also keeping alternative career paths in mind.”

General Secretary Sanzida Khanam said the initiative was aimed at helping students stay one step ahead in preparing for their professional lives alongside their academic studies.

“We believe such activities will not only make students more aware of their future but also help them remain organized and prepared,” she added.

President Prottasha Rani described the discussion as a timely and important initiative for students.

“In today’s competitive world, it is essential to prepare ourselves with proper guidance and skill development. I believe the valuable advice and experiences shared by the speakers today will play an important role in shaping students’ future plans and careers,” she said.

She also thanked all the students who attended the event and said that the organisation would continue working to support students in skill development and positive activities through more constructive programmes in the future.

Among others present at the event were Organisational Secretary Poran Chandra Roy, Office Secretary KM Jahid Bin Khalid, Social Welfare Secretary Mohammad Sharif, Planning and Work Affairs Secretary Jannatara Ferdous Elsa, and Education and Curriculum Secretary Sumaiya Akter, along with scholarship recipients of the organisation.
