Bashundhara Shuvosangho activists shared company with orphan children at a madrasa in Khetlal upazila, Joypurhat with a view to breaking their monotony and extending a breath of fresh air.
The casual session was held at Kharita Hafezia Mdarasa and Orphanage in the upazila on Wednesday.
It did not feature any display of opulence or agreeable meal, but emphasised the warmth of interpersonal connections.
Shuvosangho activists asked the children about their well-being, chatted with them, shared funny stories, inquired about their studies and struggles, helped them plan for the future, and extended assurances that there are people in the outer world who are looking out for the orphans.
Bashundhara Shuvosangho Khetlal upazila unit President M Russel Ahmed, General Secretary Nazmul Hossain and Publicity Secretary Arman Hossain were present, among others, at the time.
M Russel Ahmed said, “Being able to bring even a little smile to the faces of orphaned and underprivileged children is our greatest achievement. If every person comes forward from their own position, the lives of these children will become brighter.”
The madrasa Headmaster Mahbub Hossain said, “Such initiatives are not only acts of compassion, but also lessons in humanity. Children learn that they are not alone and that society stands beside them. These efforts also have a positive impact on their mental development.”
According to the organisers, bringing social change does not always require grand arrangements. What is needed is sincerity and a humane outlook. Small acts of kindness can eventually lay the foundation for major change.
